Programme Profile

The programme has the following objectives:

  • To produce graduates who are skilful and knowledgeable in preparing valuation and other statutory reports relating to Insurance, Takaful, Employees’ Social Security Programmes, Employees Compensation Schemes, Pension Schemes, Demographic Studies, etc;
  • To perform product development and determine premium rates;
  • To determine valuation of assets and liabilities;
  • To prepare students for the professional examinations conducted by the professional actuarial bodies like Societies of Actuaries, USA (SOA) and Institute of Actuaries, UK (IFoA).

Career Opportunities

Bachelor of Science (Hons) (Actuarial Science) graduates may be absorbed in the government or private sectors, such as the insurance industry, actuarial consulting firms, stock exchange firms and banks. They are responsible for the statistical investigations on mortality, interest rates, determination of premium rates and surrender values, the valuation of assets and liabilities.

Highlight

Qualified students may be eligible for exemptions from Institute & Faculty of
Actuaries, United Kingdom (IFoA, UK) for;

  • Financial Mathematics (CT1)
  • Probability & Mathematical Statistics (CT3)

Admission Requirements

  1. STPM or its equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 and grade C+ (GPA2.33) in Mathematics M/Mathematics T/Further Mathematics  and one (1) other subject excluding General Paper.

AND

Passed SPM/its equivalent with credits in Physics/ Chemistry/ Biology/ Additional Science/ Science and pass in English.

OR

 

  1. Asasi UiTM/PASUM/Matriculation KPM with minimum CGPA of 2.50 in and at least grade C+ (GPA 2.33) in two (2) subjects including Mathematics/ Engineering Mathematics and grade C (GPA 2.0) in one (1) other subject.

AND


Passed SPM/its equivalent with credits in Physics/ Chemistry/ Biology/Additional Science/Science and a pass in English.

OR

 

  1. Diploma in Actuarial Science/ Statistics/ Quantitative Science from Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences, UiTM, with a minimum CGPA of 2.30.

OR

 

  1. A diploma from UiTM with a minimum CGPA of 2.50.

AND


Passed SPM/its equivalent with credits in Mathematics/Additional Mathematics and Physics/ Chemistry/ Biology/Additional Science/Science and a pass in English.  


OR

 

  1. A diploma from UiTM with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 with one (1) year of working experience in Actuarial Science / Statistics / Mathematical Science / Investment related fields.

 

AND

 

Passed SPM or its equivalent qualification which recognized by the Government of Malaysia, with at least credit in Additional Mathematics.

 

OR

 

  1. A diploma from other institutions in Actuarial Science / Statistics / Mathematical Science / Investment which is recognized by the Government of Malaysia, with a minimum CGPA of 3.00.

AND


Passed SPM/its equivalent with 5 credits including Mathematics/ Additional Mathematics and Physics/ Chemistry/ Additional Science/ Science and a pass in English.


OR 

 

  1. A diploma from other institutions in Actuarial Science / Statistics / Mathematical Science / Investment which is recognized by the Government of Malaysia, with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 and two (2) years of working experience in Actuarial Science / Statistics / Mathematical Science / Investment fields.

 

AND


Passed SPM/its equivalent with 5 credits including Mathematics/ Additional Mathematics and Physics/ Chemistry/ Additional Science/ Science and a pass in English.
