i-USEr 2014 is proud to announce that there will be three workshops conducted by three experts in HCI areas. The details are as follows:

Workshop 1: Writing an ACM Paper
Speaker: Prof Torkil Clemmensen, Copenhagen Business School

Date & Time: Thursday, 4th September 2014, 2:15 – 5:15pm

Prof Clemensen is a member of Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), Sigchi.dk., Association for Information Systems (AIS) and Danish Psychological Association (DpF). He is a reviewer at more than 15 international peer reviewed scientific journals including International Journal of Human-Computer Interaction Studies and Interacting with Computers. He is on the editorial board of Information Technology and People, and European Psychologist. He has also been chairing and reviewing at various prestigious HCI conferences including CHI, NordiCHI, INTERACT, HCI International, ECIS, DHRS, CSCW and ICIS.

He has won several awards: IFIP “Silver Core” award 2014, Best paper award HCII2009 and “HCI-Guru” at World Usability Day 2007, Pune, India. He was also nominated for best paper award at CHI2009.

Workshop 2: Qualitative Methods in HCI
Speaker: Dr Jim Ang, University of Kent, United Kingdom

Date & Time: Friday, 5th September 2014, 8:30 – 11:30am

Dr Jim Ang received his PhD in HCI from City University, London. His main research area is in Human Computer Interaction, with an emphasis on Social Computing. He is actively involved in research in the use of game and virtual worlds in the domain of health, for instance, the design of virtual world for older people to maintain active lifestyle. He works with East Kent University Hospital NHS Trust on a Brain Computer Interaction project to assess emotions, researchers from University of New South Wales (Australia) on mobile health, and clinicians/researchers from e-Health unit at University College London on the use of digital intervention for sexual health. He has used many qualitative methods in his HCI work.

Workshop 3: User Experience Research and Testing using URANUS
Speaker: Mr Ashok Sivaji, MIMOS UX Lab, Malaysia

Date & Time: Friday, 5th September 2014, 2:30 – 5:30pm

Mr Ashok Sivaji holds a MSc IT from Uni. Tek. PETRONAS (2012) and is a Senior Manager and UX Lab Lead at MIMOS Berhad Malaysia. He has 14 years of experience in software testing and HCI. He is a certified usability analyst from Human Factors International (HFI-CUA) and Certified Test Foundation Level (CTFL) from International Software Testing Qualification Board.  Additionally, he is an adjunct lecturer in HCI at various universities in Malaysia. He actively published his research in both local and international conferences (OzCHI, IEEE, ACM). Recently, he was selected and served as a reviewer for the ACM TOCHI for automation in UX due to his active publication record in HCI automation. He has gained valuable experience in improving the user experience of e-Government, e-Commerce and mobile e-Learning websites and application. He has received 2 HCI national research grants and currently has one HCI patent pending filling.
