WORKSHOP #1 - URBAN INNOVATION AND CITIZEN CO-CREATION

Currently, cities are often perceived as an agglomeration of residents with city governments providing administrative management of the three “Rs” – the roads, rates, and rubbish. The notion of the smart city has changed this image. Human-centred smart cities are those that embrace a design thinking model working collaboratively with citizens as co-creators of city futures.

This workshop will provide an opportunity for co-creation process among participants where together we will explore ideas, tools and approaches around various areas relevant for a citizen co-creation model between municipalities, academia, business, citizens, and civil society. It will also discuss key design challenges within the context of business models, private/public partnership, urban planning, interior design for collaboration, community engagement and conflict resolution.This workshop is ideal for researchers and practitioners who are interested to learn the design methods and techniques in conceiving Smart Cities ideation.


WORKSHOP #2 - INNOVATIVE PRODUCT DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT: IDENTIFYING OPPORTUNITIES

The purpose of the workshop is to introduce an innovative product design and development approach (IPDD) so as to guide the participants finding opportunities for the potential market about global aging issue. In this workshop participants will be exposed to the approach and toolkits for innovative product design and development. Targeted participants are academicians, industry practitioners, and students are most welcome to join this workshop.


WORKSHOP #3 - GET YOUR HANDS DIRTY, DESIGN THINKING FOR BEGINNERS

Ideation to action in an iterative manner may sound simplistic but if executed in a collaborative- multidisciplinary teamwork, it can propel exciting innovation. As humans are key to the success of technology, DT gives an avenue to tap into human needs empathically and exploratively. This workshop capitalizes on teamwork and co-creation. The hands-on approach of the workshop will help participants harness their thinking styles whilst at the same time, get the idea prototype moving. The outcome of this session would be that the participants would have tasted an entrepreneurial experience in designing a solution for entrepreneurs.
